Thigh lifts are performed to remove excess skin and/or tighten the skin that has lost laxity. An incision is placed in the groin to reshape the thighs and remove and tighten the skin. An additional incision that extends vertically to the knee , along the inner area of the thigh, is sometimes also necessary depending upon how much skin needs to be removed. To improve and tighten the outer thigh, an incision is placed in the groin extending around the hip. The result is better toned and smoother looking thighs. A surgical garment similar to a girdle will be required to be worn for a few weeks. Typically, patients return to work in about two weeks. General anesthesia is used for this procedure and can be done on an out-patient basis.
